Skoda Kushaq Mid Size SUV Launched in Indian Market

Skoda to sell half a lakh kushaq this year

Skoda India hopes to sell half a lakh ‘kushaq’ this year, despite tough competition. Škoda has launched a new model in the mid-size SUV market dominated by Hyundai ‘Creta’ and Kia ‘Celtos’. Škoda, which expects to sell half a million units this year, aims to sell 60,000 Kushaq by 2022.

Škoda also plans to launch the ‘Monte Carlo Edition’ of the ‘Kushaq’ in the near future. Zac Hollis, Director (Sales, Services and Marketing), Škoda India, said:

Although Creta and Celtos are in the seating category, Hollis hopes that Kushaq will be able to put up a strong fight. According to him, Kushaq is a comprehensive package of TSI engines, facilities and systems that excel in design. Hollis claims that Škoda has tried to offer more features in the Kushaq compared to its competitors at a similar price point. However, Hollis believes that Kushaq can overcome this limitation and attract users.

Big cities are the main markets for Hyundai ‘Creta’ and Kia ‘Celtos’; Skoda is also targeting young families in similar areas with the ‘Kushaq’ with similar facilities and systems. The Kushaq comes with two turbo petrol engine possibilities, one liter and 1.5 liter. The showroom price of Kushaq starts from Rs India at ₹10.5 lakh for the entry-level variant, while the top-end variant gets a price tag of ₹17.6 lakh.
