Why is the Covid Delta variant spreading so fast?

The Delta variant of Covid, described by the World Health Organization as a worrying variant, is the variant that is putting the world to sleep today. Even the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which has advised vaccinates not to use masks, has now changed its stance for fear of the Delta variant. The World Health Organization estimates that Delta variants have been reported in more than 132 countries around the world.

What makes the Delta variant so frightening is that it is more capable of spreading than its predecessors. The delta variant B.1.617.2, first reported in India in December 2020, is a Covid variant with two genetic variants. According to the CDC, Delta, which has already become a dominant variant in India and the UK, accounts for 80 per cent of new Covid cases in the US.

A study by the Guangdong Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention in China has found the answer to why the Delta variety has become such a highly contagious coronavirus. The researchers found that the Delta variant was able to produce 1260 times more viral load in patients than the original coronavirus.
